Ready for a 4th of July release party?

Are you ready for a 4th of July release party? I know I am! The new Dream Angel #1, affectionately known as Dream Angel 1.3, is just about done and will be released on the 4th of July under my new married name!

Well, as they say, third time’s the charm and this newest version of Dream Angel #1 is a real gem! It’s no diamond in the rough like its predecessors. Don’t get me wrong, they’re both beautifully done books. All the books are. This one, like Techwarrior #5, is a significant step up in artistic quality. To match, some story problems have been corrected.

Oh! Another awesome thing has happened lately! Now, keep in mind the review is for the second edition and this new book’s beaten him to the punch correcting the major problems (except the cliffhanger) he mentions:

Awesome review, isn’t it? Now, if Dream Angel #1 2nd edition is that good, imagine how much better this new edition’s going to be! When this one’s released, I’ll be Jennifer Wyatt and celebrating on the train to Pennsylvania with my new husband/partner/co-author Jeff Wyatt! We’ll  be one of those unusual husband and wife indie comic teams and this new book will be the first to bear both of our names!

Ready to see the cover? You sure? It’s really awesome! You’re positive you want to see it? Okay, here it is:

Beautiful cover, isn’t it? Most definitely going to be the first of many, many more. All of which will bear both names. Come join the Facebook party! It’s all online because we’ll be on the train!

On another note, as I’ve mentioned in an earlier post, anything requiring shipping ordered from the shop can expect delays. Not huge major delays, mind you, but the items that need shipping may well be slower than usual for a variety of reasons.

Continued countdown to Techwarrior #5!

The continued countdown to Techwarrior #5 is an exciting one! Hard to believe this amazing new book and an accompanying 5 book collection will be released just the day after tomorrow!

We’re talking about knockout photo realistic art with an awesome story to go with it.

Okay, Techwarrior #1-4 don’t have the photo realistic look, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t awesome. They still feature impressive custom lighting and the start to the awesome story. So, they’re worth enjoying anyway.
Once Techwarrior #5 is released, what next? Update Techwarrior #1-4? Truth be told, that hasn’t been formally decided yet. At this point, it’s a matter of seeing just how much of a reaction Techwarrior #5 gets and if you want #6, or to see #1-4 updated.

That means it’s entirely up to you what happens after this book release. The question will be what you want: #1-4 updated or #6. It’s a question best answered after Techwarrior #5 is released with its accompanying 5 book collection.

With the book released and votes counted, the next book in line will be the one fans choose. How fast it’s produced also depends on the chosen book. #1-4 have scenes already setup. With some mild adjusting, they could render quite quickly and be released rapidly, one after another. #6 has no scenes prepared because, well, let’s face it: it hasn’t started production!

Again, the choice is yours. What of Dream Angel, you might wonder. Progress is still slow, but it is still progress. This is why Techwarrior is now picking up the slack. Updating the Dream Angel books would take a good deal longer than the Techwarrior ones.

Dream Angel #2-6 were done in Poser and would need scenes totally rebuilt. Dream Angel #1 2nd edition has many scenes complete in DAZ Studio, but several were photoshop layered together and would need also to be rebuilt. Yet, while progress on the script for Dream Angel #24 on is slow, we might see some of these earlier books begin to appear in the photo realistic style.

It’s entirely up to you.

Watch out for more Techwarrior!

As you know, Techwarrior has been delayed for a good many months now for an assortment of reasons. Well, the wait will soon be over! Techwarrior #5 has started production and already the cover and first four pages are complete with beautiful results.

tehcwarriorDuring the delay, new things were learned. One that’s proven to be the most impressive lately is the ability to use Iray. Iray is a DAZ3D render engine that does photo realistic renders. Clearly, used properly, this render engine is extremely powerful. A simple test scene is still getting “liked” on Facebook!

There’s a cost to Iray, though. Each panel render takes 2 hours! This means, to get a 4 panel page done takes over 8 hours! Yet, the phenomenal reaction to this new style of rendering does make it quite worth it.

So, what about Techwarrior? When will we see it?

Techwarrior is going at a rate of about 3-4 panels a day, which is quite good. The chosen release date is March 13th, 2017. At the current rate of rendering, it should be done by then, even with time to spare for preparing it to be added to the shop. This means we’ll be having quite a party to celebrate the first book in several months.

What about Dream Angel? When will we see the next book?

Well, progress for Dream Angel is still pretty slow, but it is progress. Dream Angel #24 should soon be ready to begin production. The thought along that line is to get the series rendered to #30 and then possibly begin updating the earlier books. #2-6 used Poser, so those mean completely re-creating the scenes in DAZ for Iray. The hope is that in the meantime, Techwarrior #1-4 can be swiftly updated to Iray so they match #5, since they were all made with DAZ to begin with.

It’ll be a while before Dream Angel starts seeing books updated – unless a publisher expresses interest in seeing them updated – but Techwarrior might see updates first. In any case, the aging laptop that’s used to make these books is in desperate need of a replacement to keep up with Iray, because it requires a lot of power to do the renders.

So, are you looking forward to the new book? Think it’s worth the wait?

Triple release party coming soon!

Come join us at the Facebook party! It’s been a lot longer in the works than usual, but finally, we’ll see a triple release party for Dream Angel #23,

Techwarrior #4,

and announcing the all-new Hillbilly Hoot #1!

Although the latter two have been largely ready for a couple weeks now, the idea was to have a big party for all three to celebrate the new series.

Dream Angel was supposed to be done a couple weeks ago, but other things ended up taking priority. Nevertheless, it’s rapidly approaching completion with a good possibility of the party being this Saturday. This is one party you won’t want to miss!

These books are all amazingly rendered with great care and attention to detail. Well, don’t take my word for it, check them out for yourself when they’re released!

In other news, the redesign of Daybright and Firebright plush characters has turned out adorable. The sample Daybright I made has a full armature even inside the ears and wings. The plan is to finish off Dream Angel, have the triple release party and finish off the last of the details for the sample before posting pictures, so keep your eyes open for those to appear and beware: He’s a thief! He’ll steal your heart at first glance!

There’s plenty of charming darlings just waiting to be adored in the shop. Not forgetting key chains, travel mugs and other assorted goodies! There’s lots of cool stuff to do and see on this site, so don’t be shy!

Opinion time!

Are you excited about the triple party? What do you think of the redesign for Daybright and Firebright with the armature? Granted, you have yet to see it, but be imaginative for a moment. It’s a blue Pegasus unicorn with a complete armature that makes it poseable. Here’s Daybright in the shop as he is currently. Now, imagine a more realistic redesign with the armature.

Tomorrow’s the big day!

Dream Angel’s come a long way and tomorrow’s the big day for her 21st book! It’s hard to believe the differences between this one and the earliest books, but a year from now, I’m counting on being even better.

As you’ve probably noticed, this site’s having technical difficulty with images. This means that for the time being the images for the new book’s page will be missing. The book itself is likely to be uploaded without incident and quite available for purchase, but the preview images on the product page won’t be there until the problem is resolved.

Getting this site on its feet 100% has been and continues to be a challenge, but the important things work – like the shop! So, while the image difficulty is being resolved, I’ll take great pains to be especially detailed and describe just how impressive this book really is without spoiling it.

Yesterday was particularly challenging. The reason is a projection that I wanted to glow. After hours of arguing, the final render with the glow I wanted turned out wonderful. If you know DAZ Studio at all, you might know of the Uber Area lights and Uber Environment lights. These were instrumental in making the projection glow the way I wanted. Combined with a fabulously devious look on our favorite villainess’s face, the scene looks exactly as I’d imagined it. Something, that even with the 3D medium I use, is not especially common. Sometimes I have to improvise and other times I improve on what I had in mind.

Unfortunately, I can’t add the render here for a sneak peek because of the image technical difficulties, but if you’re on Facebook, you can see it in the release party event and while you’re there, feel free to join the group and event! The site might still have bugs, but the group has a lot of cool fun going on!

Going to be a fun party tomorrow! Won’t you join us?
